Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff on Friday, July 22 in honor of a New York City Marine who died on July 17.
Lance Corporal Jabari N. Thompson, from Brooklyn, died of wounds sustained July 13 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
"On behalf of all New Yorkers, we honor the service and dedication of Lance Corporal Thompson," Governor Cuomo said.
"I send my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow Marines of this New Yorker and join with them in mourning his loss."
