MANHATTAN — An NYPD officer was shot and killed Tuesday night in a shootout with a suspect in East Harlem, officials said.
Officer
Randolph Holder, 33, was shot in the head when he and his partner
responded to a report of gunshots in a park at East 102nd Street and the
FDR Drive at roughly 8:30 p.m., according to sources and Police
Commissioner Bill Bratton.
Holder was a five-year NYPD veteran and was assigned to the department's Housing Bureau. He worked out of PSA 5.

Governor Cuomo Directs Flags to Half-Staff
"Last night, one of New York's Finest was taken while in the line of duty," Governor Cuomo said.
"Officer Holder acted with bravery and selflessness in protecting
countless New Yorkers in the midst of an extremely dangerous situation.
Today I ask all New Yorkers to keep Office Holder's loved ones and
colleagues at the NYPD in their thoughts and prayers."
Today, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has directed that flags on all State government buildings be flown at half-staff in memory of New York City Police Officer Randolph Holder, who died last night after being shot in the line of duty. Flags will be flown at half-staff beginning today, and remain in that position until Officer Holder’s interment.
