In announcing his decision, the Arizona governor told reporters that Mr. Kyl was the “best possible person regardless
of politics” and that he would be “prepared to hit the ground running.”
Former Sen. Kyl, who served in the Senate from 1995-2013, said he was
committed to serving until January 2019.
