First West Nile Mosquitoes of Season Detected in New York City

The New York City health department says it's detected the first mosquitoes with West Nile virus of the season.

The infected mosquitoes were found in the Rossville section of Staten Island. No human cases have been reported to date.

The health department says it will spray pesticide to target mosquitoes if persistent West Nile activity is detected, and continue to apply larvicide in catch basins, marshland and other areas with standing water.
