White House Statements on Thailand Explosion and Douma Bombing

Statement by National Security Council
Spokesperson Ned Price on the Explosion in Thailand

The United States extends our deepest condolences to all of those affected by the explosion in Bangkok, Thailand. The United States condemns this deplorable act of violence, and our thoughts are with the victims, their families and loved ones, and the Thai emergency personnel responding to the incident. The United States will remain in close contact with the Thai authorities as they investigate this attack.

Ned Price on the Market Bombing in Douma, Syria

The United States strongly condemns the deadly airstrikes yesterday by the Asad regime on a market in the Damascus suburb of Douma, where more than 100 people were killed and hundreds more injured, including scores of innocent women and children. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, who are enduring unimaginable suffering. This latest tragedy is just another reminder of the inhumane acts perpetrated daily by the Asad regime against the Syrian people. The regime is responsible for killing thousands of innocent Syrian civilians and destroying entire towns and cities, historical sites, schools, mosques, markets, and hospitals. These abhorrent actions underscore that the Asad regime has lost legitimacy and that the international community must do more to enable a genuine political transition.
