On February 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Rev. Dr. LaKeesha Walrond, the first woman and first African American woman President at the New York Theological Seminary (NYTS), will host the 2020 Eleanor Moody-Shepherd Women’s Conference, an annual conference dedicated to empowering female faith leaders across New York. The conference will be held at the Interchurch Center, 61 Claremont Avenue in New York City.
Professor and Dean of the Howard University School of Divinity, Rev. Dr. Yolanda Pierce, will deliver the keynote - building on this year’s theme, “Women in Leadership: Lighting the Dark in the 21st Century Women’s Conference.”
A range of female clergy powerhouses will discuss topics including the 'Critical Role of Women in Churches', 'Faith and Mental Health in the 21st Century', and 'Justice is Not Just for Men’ among others.
The Women’s Conference is one of the many events hosted by the Eleanor Moody-Shepherd Resource Center for Women of Faith. The Eleanor Moody-Shepherd Resource Center for Women of Faith is designed to support non-ordained and ordained women in ministry at NYTS and in churches. Dean of Students and Professor of Women Studies at New York Theological Seminary, Rev. Dr. Eleanor Moody-Shepherd founded the center in 1986.

Mirza Sanchez-Medina, Deputy Chief Academic Officer for the Division of Multilingual Learners – NYCDOE.
