Acting ICE Director Criticizes Court Ruling Barring Use of Flawed Database

PBS NewsHour: Acting ICE Director Matt Albence blasted a federal judge's decision in September to block ICE's ability to solely rely on flawed databases to target people for being in the country illegally. "Time and again DHS has been prevented from exercising the authority granted to it by Congress because of the decisions of unelected judges," Albence said during a press briefing at the White House on Oct. 10. He later added that he respects judicial rulings. Albence also blamed Congress for hindering the agency's ability to enforce immigration laws. "Despite significant changes in immigration patterns, both legal and illegal, over the last 20 years, Congress has failed to modernize our laws accordingly," Albence said.
