SUNY Student Assembly Elects 2019-2020 Officers and Student Trustee

 
Saratoga Spring, NY- This weekend SUNY students from across the system met to elect the new Executive Board for the SUNY Student Assembly.

Austin Ostro, originally from New York City and a graduate student at the University at Albany, was elected Student Assembly President. He will succeed current Student Assembly President and Trustee Michael Braun. By virtue of his election as President, Ostro will serve as a voting member of the SUNY Board of Trustees. He is a long-time member of the Student Assembly, previously serving as Vice President, Chief of Staff, Director of Legislative Affairs, and Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs.

“I am honored and humbled to be elected by students from across the SUNY system to serve as the next President of the Student Assembly,” said President-elect Ostro. “It is essential that the voices of SUNY’s 1.4 million students be heard, and I am excited to take on the role of being their champion in the coming year.”

Kate Wood, a senior at SUNY Oneonta, was elected Student Assembly Vice President. She previously served as the Student Assembly’s Director of Government Relations.

Carson Rowe, a junior at the SUNY ESF was elected as Student Assembly Treasurer. He previously served as the Special Advisor to the Vice President for the Student Assembly and as Vice President of the Undergraduate Student Association at SUNY ESF.

Damilola Adesanya, a sophomore at the University at Albany was elected Student Assembly Secretary. She currently serves as the Executive Assistant to the President at the University at Albany Student Association.

The Student Assembly’s new executive officers will take office on June 1. On that date, Austin Ostro will also be sworn in as a member of the SUNY Board of Trustees.
