Personalized Relationship Between Kushner and Crown Prince Will Have Consequences, Warns General Hayden

Former NSA and CIA Director Retired General Michael Hayden criticizes the Trump administration's handling of relations with Saudi Arabia, calling it "structurally and procedurally wrong." Hayden says that instead of relying on the traditional structures of government, which would have allowed for a tougher U.S. response to the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2, the U.S. has personalized the relationship between Jared Kushner, who he calls "the young minister of just about everything in the White House," and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, "If you keep doing stuff wrong over time...there are going to be consequences for that, Hayden warns. He also says he believes the Crown Prince knew about the plan to kill Khashoggi, saying of the Saudis, "They did it, they intended it, and he had to know it."

This report was broadcast on October 31.
