The following statement was submitted by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
With the appointment of former CIA Director Mike Pompeo as
secretary of state, President Trump is playing right into the hands of
the radical anti-Muslim movement in the U.S. and abroad.
At a time when we're seeing hate groups have unprecedented access to the White House, Pompeo's ties to anti-Muslim hate groups are extremely alarming. This new position gives anti-Muslim extremists another ally in a high place.
Pompeo will now be responsible for shaping American foreign policy
that will likely have harmful effects on American Muslims and Muslims
across the world. This appointment, once again, shows President Trump's
anti-Muslim agenda.
We can't let this happen.
Call and email members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations
and tell them that Pompeo and his anti-Muslim agenda have no place in
our government.
