5,000 Bags Still Stuck at JFK After Weekend Meltdown: Sources

About 5,000 bags left at John F. Kennedy International Airport amid the weekend's weather-related chaos still haven't been returned to their rightful owners, two sources familiar with the situation told News 4.

The sources said that at the height of last weekend's dysfunction -- brought on by an increase in air traffic following Thursday's closure for a blizzard that hit the region, cold temperatures that caused equipment to freeze and malfunction and a burst pipe on Saturday that flooded Terminal 5 -- the airport had tens of thousands of bags that had been separated from its owners.
