Upstate NY to Get a Brief Blast of Winter: Record Cold, High Winds, a Little Snow

 

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Winter pays a brief visit to Upstate New York over the next few days, potentially bringing record-cold temperatures, high winds and the first widespread snow.
After a sunny day with highs around 50 today, a cold front will drive in cold air tonight and Friday from Canada. Here's what to look for:

Plunging temperatures. Tonight's lows will drop into the 20s, and Friday's highs won't be much warmer. A clear, cold night Friday will bring temperatures down into the teens, potentially breaking record-low temperatures for Nov. 11.
