Death of the Blackbird: The 'Assassination' of Barack Obama

Death of the Blackbird

By
Devón

 Dead lies the Blackbird
For all the world to see
The pitiful nation mourns
A tortured soul set free

Mother Blackbird’s tears
Falling upon her young
Madiba screams in anger
For Kenya’s native son

Rainbow Boys are angry
Inner cities all aflame
Martin and Malcolm weep
In disbelief and shame

Who dare kill The Blackbird?
Symbol of a mighty race
A man with a crooked cross
Who spat upon its face

Despised for its hue
It fought for every man
And inspired young and old
By conveying, “Yes, we can.”

Blood upon its wings
The masses still in shock
Hands of time lie frozen
On Adolf Hitler’s clock

Old Glory’s putrid ashes
Foreshadow our demise
Jim Crow regains its power
And feasts on Blackbird eyes
