The Jeremy Jerome Jackson Case: 'There is No Evidence to Suggest This Killing Was Klan-Related'

An Official Statement from Police Chief Lee Vance

By Gary Glennell Toms

On June 16, 2017, From The G-Man (FTG) contacted the Jackson Police Department, in Mississippi, to speak with the lead detective on the Jeremy Jerome Jackson case. FTG decided to do so as a result of false news reports and rumors that have flooded the Internet, which have led many, particularly in communities of color, to believe the killing was Klan-related.

From The G-Man received a call today from Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance, who stated the following:

"There is no evidence to suggest this killing was Klan-related. There's nothing in the investigation that would indicate that, and we're still gathering as much information as we can to solve this case."

Chief Vance noted that he understood why the online community and many throughout the country would immediately believe or suspect the Ku Klux Klan may have be involved in the murder.

"I can understand why some people would think that, especially when you consider Mississippi's history. However, again, nothing in the investigation leads us to believe he was killed by the Klan."

Chief Vance concluded by stating he was deeply disturbed by the level of violence perpetrated against the victim.

"I've been in law enforcement for about 30 years, and I've never seen anything like this."
