FPWA to Convene Panel of Experts to Examine Trump’s Urban Agenda

 

On May 11, 2017, FPWA will convene a panel of academics, social justice and non-profit leaders, political experts and media analysts to discuss Trump’s first 100 days and closely examine the impact of his urban agenda on low-income communities.

Nonprofit leaders, social justice advocates and concerned citizens across the city continue to express concerns over the current political climate and the policy changes happening at the federal level. 

FPWA is bringing the panel together to conduct an in-depth discussion on these changes, what implications they have for communities and tangible actions people can take to stay informed and resist. 

Opening remarks will be provided by FPWA CEO and Executive Director Jennifer Jones Austin. Panelists include Steven Choi, Executive Director, New York Immigration Coalition; Zerlina Maxwell, Director of Progressive Programming, SiriusXM, Maya Wiley, Senior Vice President of Social Justice, New School; and L. Joy Williams, National Political Strategist. 

The panel will be moderated by Dr. Shirley Leyro, Assistant Professor, Criminal Justice Program at BMCC. 

The event, which will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. will be held at the FPWA Conference Center, 40 Broad St., 5th Floor, in New York.
