New York Public Library Updates Privacy Policy

The New York Public Library (NYPL) is updating its Privacy Policy and wants to make sure that all users are aware of the changes and what they mean.

What is The New York Public Library's Privacy Policy?

The Privacy Policy is a document that shapes what information the NYPL collects from its users and explains why it collects that information.

The policy also protects users, increasing trust and transparency between the Library and the community it serves. Users are encouraged to read the full text of the NYPL Privacy Policy here so that they understand what data is collected and how it is used.

How has the Privacy Policy changed?

The NYPL made changes to improve clarity and transparency about its privacy practices. The new Privacy Policy is easier to read, and is organized to help users better understand what information it collects and how it uses it to provide library services, how it promotes services to users and potential users, when it shares information, and how to opt in and opt out of providing such information.

Future updates and changes to the policy will be made via notices on the NYPL website.

The new policy took effect on November 30, 2016.
