Black Lawmakers Join Fight Against Facebook's Racial Profiling


A group of black lawmakers has called out Facebook for allowing advertisers to exclude certain ethnicities in housing ads, in a practice many have termed racial profiling.

Facebook came under scrutiny this week after a report emerged that showed the social network offered advertisers ways of excluding specific races by checking a category it calls "Ethnic Affinity." Advertisers can choose to exclude African Americans, Asian Americans and Hispanic Americans on the self-service advertising portal, as investigated by Pro Publica.
