2nd Inmate Dies in Less Than A Month At Same Upstate NY Jail, 3rd in 2 Years

An inmate has died at the same Upstate New York jail where another inmate died less than 30 days ago.

Officials have not released the identity or details about the Broome County Jail inmate, who died on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Broome County District Attorney's office told WICZ-TV that it believes the Sheriff's Office has conducted an investigation.

The DA's office will not review the matter to see if further investigation is required. 

The death comes less than a month after Broome County Jail inmate Kevin A. Carroll died in custody after being taken to a hospital.

Carroll's death was not reported for two weeks until a reporter raised questions about it, the Press & Sun Bulletin reported.
