OGS Vehicle Marketplace A Winner in Center for Digital Government Awards

Office of General Services Commissioner RoAnn Destito today announced that the OGS Vehicle Marketplace website www.vehicles.nyspro.ogs.ny.gov has been named a winner of a 2016 Digital Government Achievement Award by the Center for Digital Government in the government-to-government category. The Center for Digital Government awards recognize outstanding government websites that are unique, innovative, use a new technology, saved dollars, or improved performance.

“The Vehicle Marketplace makes the buying process easier and more transparent, both for purchasers and vehicle dealers,” Commissioner Destito said. “Increasing government efficiency is a high priority for Governor Cuomo, and our procurement team has done an excellent job doing just that with the Vehicle Marketplace.”

Launched in 2014, the OGS Vehicle Marketplace provides a one-stop shop for government vehicle purchasing where contract users including state agencies, local governments, and schools can purchase vehicles from contracted dealers online. In the past, each purchase was a manual, paper-based process and contract users were limited to purchasing specific vehicles. Through customer feedback, OGS learned of the need for more vehicle types, more manufacturer and model choices, and a shorter buying period.

As of August 2016, contract users have submitted 2,230 vehicle requests. More than 683 organizations across NYS have used the Marketplace for purchasing vehicles. There are currently 33 car dealers and 23 truck dealers on contract.

This is the second award the Vehicle Marketplace has received.  In October 2015, OGS was awarded a bronze George Cronin Award for Procurement Excellence from the National Association of State Procurement Officials. The award is recognized as a premier achievement for innovative public procurement, honoring ground-breaking state programs.
