On February 3, Vice President Biden met with Iraq's Speaker of the Council of
Representatives, Salim al-Jabouri. The Vice President reaffirmed the
unwavering commitment of the United States to Iraq's long-term success
and commended the bravery and tenacity of the Iraqi Security Forces and
tribal fighters in their liberation of Ramadi.
Both leaders
acknowledged the urgency of sustained international assistance to
address Iraq's significant humanitarian and economic needs, including
stabilization and reconstruction efforts. Both leaders expressed their
enduring commitment to degrade and destroy ISIL and to bolster a democratic, united, and federal Iraq to ensure prosperity for all Iraqi citizens.
