A hack of the University of Central Florida's
computer systems has exposed the private data of roughly 63,000 current
and former students, staff and faculty members, the university announced
on Thursday.
Law enforcement and a digital forensics firm are
investigating the intrusion, which was detected in January, UCF
President John C. Hitt said in a statement.
Hackers gained access to the personal
information of current and former student-athletes and support staff as
well as current and former university employees. The stolen info
includes Social Security numbers but not credit card information,
financial records, medical records or grades, Hitt said.
