A remarkable turn of events is now taking place in the Democratic presidential race: The contest has turned into a referendum on Bernie Sanders, not Hillary Clinton — or at least that's what the Clinton campaign is attempting. That's our takeaway from last night's debate, where Clinton tried to poke holes in Sanders' plans ("The numbers don't add up"), his grasp of foreign policy ("I know journalists have asked who you do listen to on foreign policy, and we have yet to know who that is"), his relationship with the president ("This is not the first time that he has criticized President Obama"), and his ability to be more than a one-dimensional president ("I do not believe we live in a single-issue country").
