Central African Republic to Go for a Run-Off on January 31

 

Two former prime ministers, Anicet Georges Dologuélé and Faustin Archange Touadéra, came top in the first round of presidential elections in Central African Republic.

They will compete in a run-off scheduled for January 31, according to preliminary results announced on Thursday by the National Election Authority .

Dologuélé polled 281,420 votes representing 23.78 % of the votes, ahead of his main rival, Faustin Archange Touadéra, who won 19.42 % with 229 764 votes .

These results will be validated by a Constitutional Court.
