Rev. Sharpton Responds to the Resignation of Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy

Civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton stated the following regarding the resignation of Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy:

“We salute the forced resignation of Police Superintendent Gary McCarthy but it is a deposit on justice and not the full payment. The Cook County State's Attorney needs to step aside and use the model we have used in New York of forcing the Governor to appoint a special prosecutor, not only for the case of Laquan McDonald but for all cases relating to the fatalities of citizens at the hands of police. Governor Andrew Cuomo did it in New York and it should be a model for the rest of the country.”
