RIP: Theodore T. Jones, NYS Court of Appeals Judge

Statement from Governor Cuomo on the Death of Judge Jones

“Today we mourn the passing of the Honorable Theodore T. Jones, Associate Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals. A native New Yorker, Judge Jones was first elected to the State Supreme Court of New York in 1990, and was later appointed Administrative Judge of the State Supreme Court Civil Term, Kings County, the first African-American to serve in that position. He was nominated to the Court of Appeals by Governor Spitzer in 2007 and served on the Court since then. Judge Jones was a tireless advocate for equal justice and inspired many through his public service and work outside the judiciary. His contributions to New York's highest court will be sorely missed. We join his family and friends in mourning his loss.”
