Justice Department Role in Monitoring Elections


Jon Geenbaum talked about the Justice Department process and protocol in deciding the election polling places it monitors, the staff and resources involved, and legal issues. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. 

The Voting Rights Act allows the Justice Department to appoint Federal Observers to monitor procedures polling places and at places where ballots are counted and to allow monitoring in political subdivisions certified by the Attorney General.
