In Memoriam....Sergeant Jose J. Reyes and Sergeant Daniel A. Rodriguez

Killed by IED in Ghazni City, Afghanistan

Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, July 24 in honor of two Fort Drum soldiers who died on July 18.

Sergeant Jose J. Reyes and Sergeant Daniel A. Rodriguez died when their vehicle was struck by an enemy improvised explosive device in Ghazni City, Afghanistan. 

They were assigned to the 548th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Drum. Sergeant Reyes was from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, and Sergeant Rodriguez was from Baltimore, Maryland.

"I join with all New Yorkers in mourning the loss of Sergeant Reyes and Sergeant Rodriguez," Governor Cuomo said. 

"I send my deepest sympathies to their families, friends, and fellow soldiers. We will honor the service of these two Fort Drum soldiers and we will be forever grateful for their dedication to our nation."
