Trailblazers in Black History: Sylvia Robinson

Sylvia Robinson was regarded as the Godmother of Rap and Hip-Hop music. She was the second female record label owner in 1974 (Ms. Zell Sanders was 1st in 1956), and executive of the legendary pioneering label; Sugarhill Records. 

In 1979, Ms. Robinson released the first successful rap single called "Rapper's Delight," from the group "The Sugarhill Gang", which featured vocalists Wonder Mike, Big Bank Hank and Master G. The song has sold over 10million copies to date!

Ms. Sylvia Robinson passed-on September 29, 2011, at age 75, in Englewood, New Jersey.
