State Senator James Sanders Jr. said: “President-elect Donald Trump has
chosen a racist, sexist, anti-Semitic, misogynist – Steve Bannon – to be
his chief White House strategist and senior counselor, an extremely
high-ranking post. If this is what Trump meant by bringing us together,
we are in for a world of pain. It would have been hard for Trump to
pick a worse person for this position, other than maybe someone with
blood on his hands. Bannon is the former president of Breitbart News,
which he has proudly described as the platform of the alt-right, a group
that has been associated with white nationalism and white supremacism.
Then there are the accusations of domestic violence by his former wife
and charges that he sexually harassed female employees at a research
facility he directed in the 1990s. The placement of Steve Bannon in such
close proximity to presidential power does not bode well for our
country. I urge the president-elect to reconsider his appointment and
choose someone who is more representative of the views of the American
people.”
