China Urged to Help Myanmar Refugees

Human Rights Watch has called on China to provide more humanitarian assistance for ethnic Kachin refugees from Myanmar. About 10,000 people had fled from Kachin, a northern-most state in Myanmar, to neighbouring China after fighting between rebels and government troops ended a 17-year ceasefire last year. The total number of those displaced from the conflict has reached 75,000. The refugees are facing an worsening shortage in basic needs, including food and shelter, in squalid camps in the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan. Wayne Hay has this exclusive report from Bangkok, Thailand's capital.
